Remote Deposit Capture
Wondering what Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) is and if it’s right for your business? RDC enables you to scan checks and submit your deposits to Farmers Savings Bank electronically. Your deposit is made from your business or home office computer, enabling you to avoid a trip to the bank. Utilizing a desktop scanner, a virtual deposit slip is prepared, and checks are converted into images. The check images are stored in a searchable database for your reference. Deposits are transmitted to the Bank using a secure, encrypted Internet connection.
Is the information entered into or accessed through the system secure?
RDC information that is accessed or entered into the system is encrypted with the highest level of Internet security available, known as SSL 128-bit encryption.
What types of checks can be processed through the system?
Business checks, personal checks, cashier’s checks, and money orders are accepted. Funds must be in U.S. dollars and drawn on banks with valid U.S. Routing and Transit numbers.
Are the images of the scanned checks retained?
The check images are able to be saved to your computer, eliminating the need to photocopy the checks.
What are the minimum computer system requirements?
The RDC application has the following hardware and software system requirements:
- High Speed Internet Connection–minimum upload capacity of 256K
- Operating System–Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
- Minimum requirements apply for processor speed and memory (specs verified prior to installation)
Does the RDC software integrate with Macintosh operating systems?
No. RDC is not compatible with Macintosh computers.
When are my funds available if I submit a deposit via Remote Deposit?
Funds deposited electronically via Remote Deposit before 4:00 p.m., CST on a regular business day, are credited to the account on the same day and follow the bank’s standard funds availability schedule.
Do I still need to use paper deposit slips?
No. A virtual deposit slip is created, eliminating the need to utilize paper slips. A deposit total is the only item that you need to enter on the deposit slip.
What do I do with a check after I scan it?
Checks are typically retained until the deposit appears on the next statement. Farmers Savings Bank requires 45 day retention. Original checks are to be stored in a secured environment until destroyed. It is recommended that a cross-cut shredder be used to destroy the check.
Can check information be utilized for accounting purposes?
Check information can be exported to a comma-delimited file.
